The Foreign Extra Stout style (aka Export Stout) is relatively unknown; developed in the Caribbean and involves adding more hops to extend shelf life. This version has a bold aroma that includes wood smoke, espresso, dark chocolate and mixed nuts. In the flavour caramel comes though, which mellows the chocolate note into milk chocolate while maintaining a strong roast character. A little heat and a hint of almond in the finish. Smooth body with medium carbonation and a discernible bitter.
